When is the best month for a snowbird stay?

For most snowbirds the sweet spot is mid-December through mid-February — escape the worst of Midwestern and Northeastern winter, return home as spring starts. For those with more flexibility:

• November — mild (high 70°F, low 48°F), low rates, very quiet. Thanksgiving week is the one busy stretch.
• December — high 64°F, low 43°F. Holiday week (Dec 23-Jan 2) books first.
• January — coldest month (high 62°F, low 41°F) but driest. Lowest rates of the year outside of December's mid-month.
• February — starts to warm (high 66°F by month-end). Some buildings begin lifting pool-heat schedules late in the month.
• March — air climbs to mid-70s. Spring break starts mid-month. If your stay extends into March, the 25+ adult policy keeps the building quiet.

What does the condo include for a long stay?

Everything we stock for a weekly stay, plus utilities. The unit was designed for guests to settle in, not just to spend a weekend. You\'ll find:

• Full kitchen — full-size appliances, plates and cookware for 6, coffee setup (drip + Keurig), basic spices and oils. Real cooking possible.
• In-unit washer/dryer — full-size, no shared laundry room, detergent pods stocked.
• Smart TV + WiFi — major streaming apps (log in with your accounts), WiFi for normal video calls and trip planning.
• Linens + towels for 6 — keeping a long-stay rotation easy.
• Two pools — family pool and adults-only pool. Mid-winter heating is HOA-scheduled; some seasons have limited pool access.
• Beach gear — chairs and a wagon in the closet (seasonal). Most snowbirds bring their own beach chair preferences, but the basics are here.
• Assigned parking — one spot for the unit, included.

What about pets for a long stay?

No pets — same policy year-round. Lani Kai is a no-pet building per HOA, and service animals are handled according to applicable law. If a pet-friendly monthly Gulf Shores rental is non-negotiable, we'd point you toward single-family beach houses on the Fort Morgan peninsula, several of which take dogs with a pet fee. Many of our snowbird guests specifically choose us because the condo stays allergen-conscious between stays.

What do snowbirds actually do here in winter?

Morning walks on the beach (the water's too cold to swim but the sand is yours), coffee somewhere familiar, midday errands or a longer drive to Foley/Mobile, an early dinner. Many snowbirds become regulars at one or two specific restaurants. Indoor exercise: the Gulf Shores Recreation Center has a gym membership, several private gyms in town offer monthly passes. Practical note: Gulf Shores in winter is genuinely quieter than most snowbirds expect. Fewer "winter Texan"-style structured activities than the Rio Grande Valley, fewer rallies and events than central Florida. If you want extensive social programming, Gulf Shores is less of that. If you want a quiet, walkable beach base with reasonable amenities, this is the spot.
