We own it. We manage it. When you book directly, you talk to me by email — not a call center.

Where exactly is the Lani Kai building in Gulf Shores?

The Lani Kai building sits at 728 W. Beach Blvd, on West Beach Boulevard west of Hwy 59. From the front door of the building to the nearest public beach access is about a two-minute walk across W. Beach Blvd — there's a marked pedestrian crossing. Hwy 59 (the main inland artery) is nearby; Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) is a short drive inland.

Lani Kai is a smaller, low-rise complex — no high-rise elevator queues, no maze of hallways. Two pools on-site (family + adults-only), grills, and assigned parking.

Who is The Shore Thing at Lani Kai a fit for?

Two couples, a family of four to six, or a small multi-generational group looking for an honest, well-stocked condo close to the beach. Not a fit for: bachelor/bachelorette parties, college spring break, or pet trips. The 25+ minimum age policy and adults-only pool exist because Lani Kai is genuinely a quieter building, and we want it to stay that way.

What's on-site at the Lani Kai building?

  • Two outdoor pools — one family pool, one adults-only pool (rare for a 2BR Gulf Shores condo)
  • Charcoal grills
  • Assigned parking per unit
  • Smaller, low-rise footprint — no elevator-tower density
  • Ongoing common-area renovation (grounds and shared spaces are getting better year over year)

How do you book The Shore Thing directly?

Frequently asked questions about The Shore Thing

Are pets allowed at The Shore Thing?
No pets at The Shore Thing. The condo is fully renovated and we keep it allergen-conscious for the next guest. Service animals are handled according to applicable law. If you need a pet-friendly Gulf Shores rental, look for a pet-friendly property elsewhere in the area.
What is the minimum age to rent The Shore Thing?
All guests must be 25 or older. We require this because Lani Kai is a quieter complex with an adults-only pool, and the age minimum filters out the spring-break party crowd. Families are welcome — children under 25 can stay with a 25+ adult on the reservation. Bachelor/bachelorette and college groups should book elsewhere.
How far is The Shore Thing at Lani Kai from the beach?
The Shore Thing at Lani Kai is across W. Beach Blvd from the public beach — roughly a two-minute walk to the nearest public beach access. Not beachfront, but close enough that we tell guests to come back to the condo for lunch, not pack a cooler. Crossing W. Beach Blvd is a marked pedestrian crossing.
What pools does the Lani Kai building have?
Two pools on-site: a family pool that any guest can use, and an adults-only pool. The adults-only pool is what we hear about most from guests. Both are outdoor and maintained by the building; access and heating depend on seasonal conditions and HOA operations.
How does check-in work at The Shore Thing?
Check-in is 3 pm, checkout 11 am. We send a door-code about a week before your arrival — no key handoff, no front desk, no waiting. You can come straight to the unit. We are owner-managed, so if anything goes sideways you contact me directly, not a 1-800 ticketing system.
What's included at The Shore Thing?
Full kitchen with quartz counters and full-size appliances, in-unit washer and dryer, smart TV with streaming, WiFi for normal trip planning and streaming, linens and towels for 6, starter coffee and basic kitchen supplies, beach chairs and a wagon (seasonal), and access to both pools. You bring food and personal items; everything else is here.
Is there parking at The Shore Thing?
Yes — one assigned parking spot comes with the unit in the Lani Kai lot. No paid garage, no street parking hassle. Bring your car if you want; guests flying into Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) can compare rideshare and rental-car options for the short airport-to-condo trip.
Why book The Shore Thing direct instead of through Vrbo or Airbnb?
Direct booking avoids the third-party platform service-fee line item. You also get a real person (me) on email, not a 1-800 number routed through a ticketing system. We use Hospitable as our booking platform under the hood.
